This one is fun. Now we also consider 57 to be an iconic year for cars for many reasons. One is, they do not make them with this flare and elegance anymore.

This 1957 Ford Thunder Bird particularly comes with a story.

Originally it was brought to us for some shift adjustments and to add resonators to the exhaust system. Upon arriving, there were huge leaks from several fluids collecting in our parkinglot. Though the engine was recently rebuilt by someone else, it needed quite a bit of work to be resealed.

Lots of things were discovered. Leaks coming from headgasket, transmission, and other gaskets on the engine. Upon gathering all of the information we needed to get parts coming, we found out that this is in fact was a 292 Y block. It has a combination of parts from this era. Once we shared our findings with our customer, we did our best to locate an original 312 Y block to match the car. This journey proved to be difficult. After spending time searching, we all made a joint decision to finish the work we started. Engine was preped for resealing and cylinder heads had work done. The engine was coated and things were looking good to go back into the T Bird..

Our client located a former donor from a vehicle he sold some time ago. This engine had been in its former vehicle since the late 60's. Stored and parked in Ca. The engine still rotated and had compression! We were really excited to get into making this engine worthy of the road.

Now, we will say. It sure does run great.

We have more video coming soon along with more on the build
